Eulalia: Yee!

Dear Yuletide Author

Dear Yuletide Writer,

Hello hello! First, thank you for taking the time to do this, and second, don't tie yourself up in knots about it--I know how much effort it takes to write a story and I'm really not that hard to please. I don't want you to stress if it's not exactly what I asked for; I picked these fandoms because I enjoy them, and I'm not the kind of person who (usually, haha) inordinately hates this or that character or other aspect of a work.

Anyway, looking back on it, I think my requests were a little vague! So here's some extrapolation for you.

WORLD OF WARCRAFT

'You could have been a queen.'

Not gonna lie, Warcraft eligibility is why I signed up this year! Jaina/Kael is one of my favorite pairings and it's difficult to find a story about them that ... well, it's difficult to find a story about canon Warcraft characters at all, to be honest. I don't want to lay down too many laws on you, but I think a story set during the early days of the Burning Crusade would be interesting, or sometime very soon before then--in other words, a point in the timeline when Kael is definitely headed toward the deep end but he hasn't quite jumped into the pool, if you know what I mean. They meet somehow; I'll leave the logistics up to you (maybe Jaina tried to scry at Tempest Keep or sneak around or something, maybe he was checking in on her, whatever, THEY ARE BOTH WIZARDS AND CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT). He's bitter but still desirous of her, etc,; she, being Jaina, probably feels a mix of sympathy, concern and (admittedly) revulsion.

OR YOU CAN DISREGARD THAT and just write what you want. If it's Kael and Jaina, I'll be happy, so long as, um, neither of them dies. I know that this pairing can never work lore-wise but I don't want anything super grim. Melancholy, okay. Bittersweet, grand. Murder-death-misery, no. The quote I suggested is meant to evoke the kind of tone I'm hoping for, basically.

And, if you just don't want to write that pairing at all, then I wouldn't mind something with Jaina and Thrall or even Jaina and Arthas. I ... JUST WANT STORIES ABOUT JAINA, because I love her a lot.

FINAL FANTASY XIII

'I wasn't joking about seeing you smile.'

OK, I requested a Hope and Vanille story because even though I'm pretty sure Vanille's torch is for Fang, I still think she's cute with Hope and that's what I'm in the market for. Just something cute and sweet and maybe childhood-crushy. Nothing super specific. Again, the quote suggests the tone; you don't have to incorporate that line or anything like it by any means, I just--if you want to write this one, make it fuzzy. Because they both deserve some warm feelings in their lives, I think.

HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE

Something with Howl and Sophie! My idea was them shopping for their child while Sophie was still pregnant with him, just because Howl is so up-in-the-clouds that I think such a mundane yet necessary task would put him completely out of his depth (and be hilarious). But again, if that doesn't inspire you, then whatever--as long as Howl and Sophie are there and they love each other, it's all good.

BREATH OF FIRE IV

'Stay.'

FOU-LU AND MAMI. This relationship was so tragic and so important and we saw so little of it. Again, the quote is just for tone; I think one idea that might be nice is a sort of day in the life kind of story about his time with her and the dynamic they formed. In my personal view, he loved her as much as he was capable of loving a mortal person (which is why using her as a sacrifice was so effective). If you really want to get grand and wish-fulfilly, you could write an AU where he's somehow able to stop her being sacrificed and carries her off into the sunset or something, but I'd just like, again, something happy and warm about their dynamic, about how he was moved by her gentle kindness and willingness to care for him and so on and so forth.

... so basically what I want is a lot of sappy het, lmao. I don't care about ratings, really; go as high or as low as you want, but again, I don't want anything that's pitch black dark. You can be creepy with Kael and Jaina, certainly, but I just don't want to wake up to character death for Christmas.

I think that's all I got. I hope this is enough for you to be getting on with, and so long as rocks don't fall and kill everyone, I will probably love whatever you write <3

MUCH LOVE,
lyn
